KILAWAIN LABANOS

KILAWAIN LABANOS

Ingredients:

  1. 1 kilo labanos (radish, diakon works nicely) peeled and thinly sliced
  2. 200 grams pork belly, cubed
  3. ¼ cup miso
  4. 1 onion, sliced
  5. 2-3 tomatoes, sliced
  6. 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  7. 2 tablespoons patis
  8. 1 teaspoon peppercorns, coarsely pounded
  9. ½ cup vinegar
  10. ½ cup water
  11. 1 teaspoon MSG
  12. Salt, to taste
  13. 2 tablespoons cooking oil

 

Cooking Directions:

In a large sauce pan, boil pork in ½ cup of water until tender. Set aside.

In a large skillet or wok, sauté garlic until brown. Then add onions and tomatoes. Stir until tomatoes wilt and add boiled pork and miso. Sauté for 2 minutes. Season with patis. Add in ¼ cup water, cover and boil for 2 minutes. Then add in your labanos, pepper and MSG. Cover. When labanos is half cooked add vinegar. Cover and boil for 3 minutes. Continue this way until labanos is cooked through. Serve hot.
